Community: ‘Remedial Chaos Theory’ Review
This is why Community is the best show on TV. While the last two episodes weren’t that great, this episode of different timelines was amazing and watching them unfold was some of the best minutes I’ve had while watching Community.
The basic premise of this episode is that the group is at Troy and Abed’s new apartment for a house-warming. The pizza arrives and they have to choose which one will go down to get the pizza by rolling a die. So, Jeff rolls a six-sided die and whichever number it lands on corresponds with a member of the group.
What unfolds afterwards is Community at its best and shows other comedies what they need to do to be funny with slapstick and funny by making you think. Some of the best jokes in this episode happen so quickly that you could easily miss them and I’m still discovering some on my fourth viewing.
I don’t want to give too much away but here is what you can expect from this episode: Someone gets high, someone gets shot, two people kiss, someone sets the apartment on fire, someone dies, someone loses an arm and someone gets engaged and you learn what Pierce has done in an airplane bathroom.
This episode is also a great episode to introduce people to Community with. I had shown someone who had never watched an episode before and by the end, he had tears in his eyes from laughing and he is now going to go and watch all the episodes from the beginning.
All in all, this episode was a masterpiece and Community at its best. Oddly enough, it is still not the best episode of Community because the quality of each episode is so high but it is definitely in the Top 5. Don’t forget to stick around for the credits portion because in true Community fashion, it is amazing. Thankyou Community for this amazing episode!
