Most Anticipated PS3 Exclusives of 2012

2011 was an amazing year for the PS3 and 2012 continues that tradition. The quality of games releasing solely on the PS3 is unprecedented and each and every game on this list has the potential to be our PS3 Game of the Year.

8. Journey (Spring 2012)

It comes from the makers of Flow and Flower, so you know that That Game Company will create a very beautiful, soothing gaming experience. Definitely look for Journey to compete for our PSN Game of the Year.

7. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (Fall 2012)

Playing through the Sly Cooper Collection definitely fuelled our passion to have a sequel. It has been far too long since we have played a new Sly adventure and Thieves in Time definitely has us looking forward to the end of this year.

6. Sorcery (Spring 2012)

This game made me buy a Playstation Move. I saw it at E3 and it showed just how awesome the Move could be. Well, it’s a few years later and it looks like it could actually be releasing this year. If those extra years were spent on creating a full engrossing story, more creative spells, and refined controls, Sorcery could be the killer app that the Move has been looking for.

5. The Last Guardian (Fall 2012)

The Last Guardian was our 4th place finisher in our 12 Most Anticipated Games of 2012, but since then, that anticipation has slightly wavered. The recent turmoil of certain staff members leaving leaves the quality of the game in question. It could easily be the next Shadow of the Colossus, but we just aren’t as excited as we once were.

4. Starhawk (May 8th)

A gigantic online third person shooter with elements of tower defense gameplay? Starhawk is awesome. If you haven’t played the Beta yet, you need to change that. This game is so fun and crazy that it deserves to be played. May 8th cannot come soon enough.

3. Jak and Daxter HD Collection (February 7th)

A collection of the first three Jak and Daxter in full HD with trophy support? They could charge a full $60 and I would still be picking it up. The PS2 classics are some of my favourite games (Jak 2 gets better upon repeat playthroughs) and getting the chance to earn trophies on every single will make the journey back that much sweeter.

2. Twisted Metal (February 14th)

It has been a very long time since we’ve experience the raw carnage of a Twisted Metal game and this new iteration looks to give us everything we’ve been hoping for. As long as the controls are responsive, Twisted Metal will be spending a lot of time inside our PS3′s.

1. The Last Of Us (Fall 2012)

It finished 7th in our 12 Most Anticipated Games of 2012 and deservedly so. It is made by Naughty Dog, and even though no gameplay videos have been shown, that name alone means that should be a good game.

1b. God of War IV (TBD)

Resident Evil 6 wasn’t even in anyone’s thoughts two weeks ago, but now we’ll see it on November 20th. All signs point to a God of War IV unveiling in February and while we don’t believe that it will see a 2012 release (God of War games typically release in March), if that somehow changes, God of War IV will be our most anticipated PS3 game of 2012.
