10 PS1 Games That The PSN Needs: Part 1 of 2
Over the past few years the number of classic games on the Playstation Network has grown tremendously. Where originally there were few good Playstation 1 games that people wanted to download, now there is Metal Gear Solid, Vagrant Story, Crash Bandicoot, and many Final Fantasy games. There are all fantastic Playstation games but for some gamers out there, these just aren’t what they want. There are still plenty of great Playstation games to tap into for the gamers out there in need! Here is part 1 of my 2 part list of PS1 games that need to come to the PSN.
The Legend of Dragoon
When you ask many people what their favorite RPG on the PS1 was, you are likely to get an answer like Final Fantasy VII. While Final Fantasy VII is a fantastic game, many other gamers would disagree and say that Legend of Dragoon was better. People loved the cool combat system, the characters wearing the awesome armor, and the interesting story. It is odd that a game that was as popular as this hasn’t made the jump to the Playstation Network yet. There are many games on the Playstation Network already for the RPG lover but putting Legend of Dragoon on PSN would really make gamers jump for joy like a Dragoon.
Mega Man Legends
I have recently found myself rekindling my love with the blue bomber known as Mega Man. In particular I have found myself longing for the days when Mega Man Volnutt was still around. The PS1 classics Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 still stand strong as many gamers’ favorite game of all time. This game brought Mega Man into the third dimension and did it the right way. Instead of focusing on platforming like many classic games that made the jump to 3D, Mega Man Legends was more Action/RPG oriented. This game deserves the port to the Playstation Network more than almost any other and I long for the day when it might end up there.
Tomba
What the heck happened to Tomba? Tomba was an interesting platformer for the PS1 where you controlled the pink haired hero Tomba trying to stop an evil race of pigs taking over the land. Graphically Tomba wasn’t great but it made up for it in charm and craziness. The game had an interesting throw mechanic and always kept you guessing where the game world was going to go next. Tomba was fairly popular in its day as it spawned a sequel that made its way to North America as well. Hopefully sometime in the future gamers new and old can get a chance to try out this interesting PS1 title.
Valkyrie Profile
Valkyrie Profile is one of the most underappreciated PS1 games of that entire generation. The game follows Lenneth, a Valkyrie from Asgard sent to collect the souls of dead humans to fight alongside her at the end of the world. The game really featured some of the deepest characters in an RPG at the time and had a combat system that still feels innovative today. There was a sequel for the PS2 but many gamers felt it strayed too far from the original and didn’t live up to it. The game has been put on the PSP but sometimes gamers want to play the original! Valkyrie Profile could possibly have another chance at life if the game ever ends up releasing on the Playstation Network in the future.
Digimon World 3
When I played Digimon World 3 on the PS1 when I was younger my mind was blown by the concept. People get to sit in a machine and actually go into a virtual world where Digimon were real. The idea of a real RPG set in a Digimon world was fantastic to me and the game followed through with many of the cool concepts like the game world. While the combat may have a bit uneven and tough in some situations the story kept players drawn in and didn’t let go until the ending. And after all, who doesn’t love the idea of choosing your own Digimon to battle with and raising them to become stronger? Someone needs to bring this game to the Playstation Network so that other gamers can get the chance to experience it!

LOD is by far one of the most under rated games for a RPG. The game was even made by Sony!! You’ll get more sales than Bass Fishing and 75 % of the crap that’s out there.
Priorities first, seen as PSN takes ages to release PsOne titles is:
1: Mega Man X5 (aswell as all the other Mega Man X titles but 4 was the best.)
2: Street Fighter Alpha 3
3: Tekken 3
4: Resident Evil 2
5: Tombi 2 (much better game in every way)
6: Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (and Tenchu 2)
7: Galerians – I agree, brilliant game that was massively overlooked
8: WipeOut 2097 (and Wipeout 3)
9: and 10: would have been Silent Hill and Gex had they both not been released recently so maybe PSN are onto something now. I would buy all those games on release so come on Sony, do you want my cash or not?
Tomba! isn’t that bad…but I like Tomba! 2 more…I even ported it to the psp because my original ps1 isn’t working anymore…
Nothing on Tobal 2? Best fighting game in the universe?
