Opinion: Grand Theft Auto V Will Launch On October 9th

With the leak that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be launching on November 13th, this essentially solidifies the day when we can expect to see Grand Theft Auto V and that will be October 9th.

This is all contingent upon the game actually being ready for this year, but if it is, you only need to look at the crowded October/November schedule to see when there is an opening for GTA V.

October and November Releases:

October 2nd – Resident Evil 6

October 9th – Nothing

October 16th – Bioshock Infinite

October 23rd – Medal of Honor: Warfighter

October 30th – Assassin’s Creed 3

November 6th – Halo 4

November 13th – Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

As you can clearly see, every week except for October 9th houses a giant title, leading us to believe that the game will launch in the second week of October. It could release after Black Ops 2, but a November 20th date would be too late and if they launched in September, that would seem to be too early. With E3 just over a month away, we can expect some answers then.

This game will crush i don’t think they will even care about the other titles – Late October around 26th

  • John

I give this ZERO chance. It’s Max Payne 3 this year and that is it from Rocjstar as they very rarely release more than 1 game a year.

  • Aaron

Here is what will happen… 100% guaranteed Rockstar will announce that GTA V will release October 2012, but then come September Rockstar will say it’s been pushed ack for polish untill April 2013… Watch

TakeTwo’s other fall game is Bioshock Infinite. There is no way whatsoever they’ll cannibalize their sales. GTA V will drop in May 2013, guaranteed.

      agreed! or April 2013

The two main arteries of a very healthy tree

    Max Payne – 2012
    Bordelands 2 – 2012
    Bioshock Infinite – 2012
    Aliens Colonial Marines – 2013
    GTA V – 2013

Pretty sure R* don’t show at E3… The game does seem to be near completion, and previous GTAs have been released in October/April. I would steer towards an April 2013 release, to maximize sales plus give time to build more hype and a bigger fan base from Max Payne (GTAIV was hyped for like 2 years).

On the other hand if you are correct we can expect another trailer + official release date late May/June before E3 to get people talking.

    Errr…Rockstar doesn’t give a f*** about other releases.

Diablo 3 5/15, Max Payne same day.

  • GTA 5

An interesting thought process but that doesn’t really mean anything at all.GTA V would crush other titles. Not everyone can afford multiple games in such a small time frame so it is doubtful Take-Two would release two of their own titles right next to each other. They could care less about other publishers with similar-ranked games (especially when wielding the GTA powerhouse) but would not want to hurt themselves. Plus, as you stated, it’s a crowded area of the year. So even though GTA would get on top, Rockstar/Take-Two would rather have a larger opening to gain as much profits as possible and hopefully break more sales records to boost their status. Again you have an interesting look at things but it’s a narrow perspective. The big picture is everything.

    • Bob

your being narrow. borderlands 2 isnt that big of a title and it would come out a month before GTA.

activision did the same thing with 007 and modern warfare 3. oct would be the good time to launch gta.

      • GTA 5

        *You’re.

I never said Borderlands 2 was a big title. On top of that, we’re talking Take-Two not Activision. Try again, kid.

  • john

Not a chance we will see GTA V this year.

I suppose its possible, GTA 3, GTAVC, and GTA SA launched in October.
