Q1 2013 Will Be The Best Start To Any Year… Ever

Ever since 2005 and the releases of both Resident Evil 4 and God of War in the first quarter, the video games industry has shifted their priorities. Instead of every single game coming out between September and November, AAA titles find themselves coming out not only at the beginning of the year, but throughout the entire year because of how successful those two aforementioned titles were.

Looking at this past year, it featured some truly great games within the first three months (Final Fantasy XIII-2, Mass Effect 3, Street Fighter x Tekken, SSX), but the first quarter of 2013 will put 2012 and every single previous year to shame with its currently scheduled list of releases, which you can see below.

Aliens: Colonial Marines (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – February 12th, 2013

Bioshock Infinite (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – February 26th, 2013

Lost Planet 3 (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – 2013

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3, Xbox 360) – Early 2013

Metro: Last Light (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – 2013

Spartacus Legends (PS3, Xbox 360) – 2013

Splinter Cell: Blacklist (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – 2013

The Last Of Us (PS3) – 2013

The Witch and the Hundred Knights (PS3) – 2013

Total War: Rome 2 (PC) – 2013

XCOM (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) – 2013

Zeno Clash 2 (PSN, PC, XBLA) – 2013

Even with some inevitable delays for some of these titles, the first quarter of 2013 will still be an amazing time for gamers and as the 2013 release schedule becomes clearer in the next few months, we could potentially see over 10 AAA titles within just the first three months of next year.

Where’s beyond two souls and GTAV? They’re the biggest games along with South Park and both likely to be released around then but of course there can be delays. The rest is just a bunch of generic stuff we’ve seen before and not intellectually significant games. The Last of Us is just another linear violent game with high production values but no real substance. Metal Gear Rising will probably be the worst game ever made, I would literally be happy if the developers were killed by terrorists and the game was cancelled.

      Red Dead – May

      Max Payne 3 – May

      GTA V – May

      Nuff said

    That isnt the best start

    only those rpgs are good

    • Bob

You are of course backing up that idiotic statement with proof, right?

      • LL

why does he need proof for his own opinion?

I also don’t think 2013 Q1 looks the best looking at that list.

        • Bob

I’m just asking for a year that was better. If someone can show it, then I’ll listen to their opinion.
