Did Sony Just Top Their E3 Press Conference?

Yes, yes they did. Sony at Gamescom 2012 blew every expectation anyone had from them out of the water.

For PlayStation 3 owners, they announced 3 brand new exclusive games that really look to push the envelope. Until Dawn looks like it could be a very interesting survival horror game and if the PlayStation Move controls work well, it could end up being one of the best Move enabled titles out there. Though not much is known about the PSN-only Rain, it looks to continue a trend of inventive PSN titles that has been taking place this year with titles such as Journey, Sound Shapes, and Papo and Yo. Lastly, The Puppeteer looks like a very brilliant 2D game in the same vein as LittleBigPlanet, with combat peppered in.

As for existing titles, the addition of Move to Fifa 13 looks like it could be an interesting change, the new Wonderbook experiences seemed like they could really appeal to the younger crowd of gamers out there, and the four characters being added to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (Ratchet and Clank, Spike, Dante, Sackboy) help to expand an already impressive roster of characters.

Looking at the PlayStation Vita, Sony went above and beyond. Killzone Mercenary and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified look like the perfect first person shooters to accompany the handheld (especially after Resistance: Burning Skies disappoint), there will be yet another system bundle that includes Declassified for free, the PS1 Classics are finally coming to the system in just two weeks, PlayStation Plus is coming to the Vita, and Tearaway from Media Molecule will be yet another inspiring title from the studio.

Not stopping there, you’ll also be able to use your PlayStation Vita to control your PS3 copy of LittleBigPlanet 2, Assassin’s Creed: Liberation looks stunning, they showed off new The Last Of Us footage, and PlayStation Plus is getting more free games and increased Cloud storage of 1GB.

So, not only did Sony top their E3 press conference, they did it by a wide margin. Whereas we were grasping for things we liked in our The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of the Sony E3 press conference, we are grasping to find things we didn’t like at their Gamescom conference it was that good. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita owners really have a lot to look forward to in the next year.

Too bad it’s still GAME OVER for the VIta.
Playing 15 year old games on it won’t bring it back to life and neither will that ugly crap Call of Duty that everybody was so desperate for. Nobody wants crappy games that are better elsewhere and the PSP could play PS1 games so why can’t the Vita at least play PS2 games?
The only game that might be worth having for the core is Killzone, but that is just 1 game for 250$ plus accessories and the price for the game, so NO GO!
Sony messed this one up BIG TIME!
